Prayer, Fasting & Detoxing
Howdy, POWER People! I hope you all are having a Good Friday! (Pun Intended). Anywhoo, I wanted to share with you all what I've been doing for the past couple of months.
As mentioned in my previous blog, I've been writing in my journal every night, as well as reading my Bible. There's no time like the present to get right with God, and really, that statement can apply at any given time. So, no rush if you haven't gotten there yet, I'm still getting there myself.
Now let's jump in: What's the purpose of prayer and fasting? The purpose of prayer and fasting is to seek God, in its simplest definition. Much of what we consume is toxic, or not naturally good for our bodies, and it is imperative that we pay attention to what we eat.
This isn't to say you can't 'treat yo self' every now and then, but it is important that we maintain a relatively healthy "diet."
What's the difference between a diet and fasting? Great question! What's the root word of "diet?" -- "Die," right? So if the root word of "diet" is "die," what do you think is happening to your body when you are "dieting?" I'm sure you can guess that one, baby. So just to clarify, "dieting" is the act of changing one's entire meal plan, or eradicating it completely to alter one's body appearance (I came up with that one on my own, no dictionary - okuuur?). Fasting, on the other hand, is temporarily giving up the things you enjoy consuming to essentially, hear a word from God, and/or regain control of self. (I came up with that one too, hire me).
Why should I fast? Fasting is totally up to you. In my case, I need to fast because what I am consuming is not good for my body. This goes for food, drinks, social media, negativity, etc. If you find that you are struggling to focus, losing connection with your faith, agitated, experiencing insomnia, or just overall uncomfortable, these could be signs that it's time to fast.
Is fasting the same as detoxing? Technically, no. Fasting usually entails giving up a thing or two, where as detoxing typically includes an aid; such as a tea, pill, shake or something of the sort. What I'm preparing for is to do a 3-day detox with tea: this rids your body of unhealthy toxins, junk, and essentially cleans you out. While doing the detox, you should also switch up the normal foods you eat to ensure you are not re-toxifying your body (not a word, but you get it). Detoxing can also help in losing weight.
How does this relate to your business? I'm glad you asked. In order to have a successful business, you must first take care of the owner. If you're not taking care of you, feeding yourself deathly foods and not taking control of your mind or your actions, it'll reflect in your business. Seriously, this can easily lead to depression and other issues that can seep right into neglect. So, let's take care of ourselves so that our businesses can flourish as much as we do!
So, that's a little bit about what I'm planning to do. I need to clear and clean my mind, body and soul, and get back right with God. I'm ready to let go of this dead weight, cleanse myself inside and out, and continue in my purpose that God is preparing me for. Are you with me on this journey? I'll for sure be documenting it! Leave a comment below if you're with me, or if you have any questions. See ya on the other side!
